Dr. Becky Purkaple, MD
Dr. Purkaple received a Bachelor's of Art in Classics and a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry at the University of Oklahoma where she was named a Goldwater Scholar for her research in biochemistry. She taught science and theater for a short period at a high school in Oklahoma City before returning to medical school at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center.
During her years in medical school, she was given the opportunity to conduct research led by Dr. James Mold. His passion for patient-centered, research-driven primary care inspired her to pursue residency in Family Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Purkaple is a resident at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center Family Medicine Program. She recently published her research with Dr. Mold in the Annals of Family Medicine. She hopes to continue her work in educating students about the goal-directed model of health care and applying its tenets in order to improve communication in health care.
